Charles Julius Cobaugh was born in the middle of the 19th Century to a Harvard University professor and a seamstress, his mother dying soon after he was born. Upon the outbreak of the War Between the States, Charlie's father was drafted into the United States Army as a Major, and was killed on the field of battle. Charlie headed West alone when he was in his mid teens, carrying as many firearms with him as possible, remembering when he was a boy how his Great Uncle Remus, who was a drummer boy in the American Revolution, would tell him the importance of more guns means less loading in a fight. Charlie was a scout with the Cavalry in the Dakotas when he was thrown from his horse, broke his back and was captured by the Sioux. He thought they were nursing him back to heath when he discovered they were waiting for him to heal so they could kill him. Once healed, in an attempt to save his own life, Charlie begun spouting fire and brimstone, imitating the soap box preachers he had seen back East. Soon the Sioux started calling him Witko Tko Ke and released him. When Charlie had the name the Sioux had given him translated, it meant crazy, and the name stuck. Crazy Charlie has since served as an on and off lawman, traveling the country, righting wrongs and helping people that no one else will. Funny thing, when Crazy Charlie is after outlaws, it doesn't really matter to him if he is wearing a badge or not.
